A manufacturer's warranty is a simple and cost effective means of controlling maintenance cost if chosen carefully. It is NOT an alternative for an effective maintenance program!
It is not common for communications users to become frustrated when they find that a manufacturer' warranty is not a substitute for efficient service. There are all kinds of manufacturer's warranties. Some are simple and hassle free. Others can be a nightmare! We try to select companies who are really interested in taking care of our customers. Most require return of a defective product to a regional or national depot.
Most require that you pay shipping to the repair depot. One (Motorola) pays shipping both ways. Many offer warranty extensions of up to five years at reasonable cost. A very few offer quick turnaround. Most don't, which is why we recommend purchasing spares, or better yet, using our TimeShare Service.
